The U.S. Navy reported that its aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel M/V Besiktas-M near Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to Cmdr. Tim Gorman, spokesperson for the U.S. 6th Fleet, the incident did not result in any injuries to the crew or flooding on the carrier. The ship’s propulsion systems remain operational, and the circumstances surrounding the collision are currently under investigation. Further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
