In a recent operation, U.S. forces conducted strikes in Yemen targeting Houthi militants, as the group continues its assaults on international shipping. On Jan. 16, at around 1:45 p.m. Sanaa time (5:45 EST), Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen launched an anti-ship ballistic missile into the Southern Red Sea’s international shipping lanes. The Maltese-flagged bulk carrier M/V Zografia reported being hit but remained seaworthy, continuing its transit through the Red Sea without any injuries.
The ship was traveling from Sri Lanka to the port of Suez.
Earlier that day, at about 4:15 a.m. Sanaa time (8 p.m. EST), U.S. Forces preemptively struck and eliminated four Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles that were ready for launch in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
