USS Carl Vinson Returns Home

SAN DIEGO — The USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), along with other ships from Carrier Strike Group 1, has returned to its homeport at Naval Air Station North Island after a four-month deployment to the Western Pacific.

The strike group visited several countries, including the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and Hawaii, aiming to strengthen relationships with allies and partners in the region.

Throughout the deployment, the strike group participated in various maritime exercises alongside allied and partner nations.

The crew of the Vinson conducted numerous operations at sea, including underway replenishments and flight operations, covering thousands of miles safely and efficiently.

Capt. Matthew Thomas, commanding officer of the Vinson, praised the sailors for their professionalism and dedication, noting their role as ambassadors during port visits.

Key engagements during the deployment included meetings with defense officials from allied nations and visits from senior naval leadership.

The Carl Vinson strike group consisted of various ships and aircraft, including the guided missile cruiser, USS Princeton, and Carrier Air Wing 2.
