Having completed its graduation exercise last month, the carrier set sail from Naval Air Station North Island.

In the upcoming days, the carrier is expected to onboard aircraft from Carrier Air Wing 11, stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif.

Additional aircaft on board are East Coast-based C-2A Greyhounds substituting for the currently grounded CV-22B Ospreys. This deployment to the Roosevelt follows the grounding of the Navy’s fleet of CMV-22B carrier logistics aircraft since Dec. 6, after an Air Force CV-22B crashed off the coast of Japan.
